Hillingdon Council is seeking a Licensing Officer to join our team, supporting the regulation and enforcement of licensing across a variety of sectors, including alcohol, entertainment, gambling, street trading, and more.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assess and process licence applications in accordance with legislation and Council policies.
- Conduct inspections of licensed premises to ensure compliance with public safety, crime prevention, and public nuisance regulations.
- Investigate and take enforcement action where necessary, including preparing cases for prosecution or appeal.
- Provide expert advice and support to businesses, residents, and stakeholders on licensing requirements.
- Prepare and present cases for Licensing Committee hearings.
- Manage your own caseload independently while balancing competing priorities.
What We’re Looking For:
- Proven experience working with licensing systems, including the Licensing Act 2003, Gambling Act 2005, street trading legislation, and marriage venue licensing.
- Strong knowledge of relevant legislation and its practical application to casework.
- A proactive, organised individual with the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills to engage with businesses, regulatory bodies, and enforcement agencies.
- A commitment to delivering high-quality customer service and working collaboratively with internal and external partners.
