Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of domestic abuse victims? We are looking for a proactive and dedicated Floating Support Worker to join our team. This is a challenging yet rewarding role where you will work closely with IDVA colleagues, police, social care, housing, and other agencies to provide advocacy and support to victims of domestic abuse (regardless of gender) and their children.
In this role, you will provide ongoing practical and emotional support to victims, including risk assessments, safety planning, and one-on-one case management. Your work will involve both telephone and face-to-face support, ensuring the safety and well-being of both victims and any children in the household.
Additionally, you will be responsible for case management, including providing written and verbal reports, attending multi-agency meetings, advocating on behalf of victims, supporting them in court, and signposting them to appropriate services.
Key Responsibilities

- Risk Assessment & Safety Planning: Complete DASH risk assessments and collaboratively develop tailored safety plans for clients and their children.
- Ongoing Support & Advocacy: Provide one-on-one floating support to empower clients to engage with their safety plan and work effectively with professionals such as police, social services (adults and children), and housing officers.
- Information & Guidance: Ensure clients understand all available options so they can make informed decisions about their safety and future.
- Multi-Agency Coordination: Attend and arrange meetings with relevant agencies to advocate for clients, ensuring their voices are heard and appropriate actions are taken.
- Case Management & Documentation: Maintain accurate and detailed case notes, ensuring timely record-keeping and effective caseload management.
- Collaboration & Risk Management: Work within a multi-agency framework, sharing information where appropriate to manage risks and safeguard clients.
- Escalation & Referral: Liaise with IDVA colleagues to discuss cases where risks have increased or require additional intervention.
Essential Experience & Skills
- Extensive experience working with victims of domestic abuse, including risk assessment and safety planning.
- Strong background in multi-agency working, with the ability to collaborate effectively with police, social services, and housing teams.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience in preparing reports and advocating for victims.
- In-depth understanding of the dynamics of domestic abuse, its impact on victims, children, and communities.
- Knowledge of risk escalation and the ability to identify increasing risks.
- Strong understanding of criminal and civil interventions, housing options, and social care processes.
- Experience managing high caseloads in a fast-paced environment.
- Solid understanding of safeguarding procedures and professional responsibilities.
- Ability to prioritise workloads effectively while maintaining high standards of service.
- A team player who can support colleagues while also working independently and escalating concerns as needed.
This is an opportunity to be part of a dedicated team making a real difference in the lives of domestic abuse victims and their families. If you are compassionate, proactive, and experienced in this field, we would love to hear from you.
