  • About the role

  • We are seeking a dedicated and proactive ASB Response Officer to join our frontline service, tackling anti-social behaviour and environmental issues across the borough. This is a varied and impactful role where your work will directly improve the quality of life for residents and businesses.

You will lead on investigations, enforcement, and community engagement across a wide range of issues including anti-social behaviour, environmental crime, waste offences, and highways regulations. Working across council, private, and mixed-tenure properties, you will deliver a high-quality, customer-focused service while supporting victims and taking decisive action where required.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Investigate complaints relating to anti-social behaviour, environmental crime, waste, and highways issues

    • Take appropriate enforcement action in line with legislation, including issuing notices and fixed penalty notices

    • Prepare detailed case files and represent the Council at Magistrates Court where required

    • Respond to service requests within target timescales, ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction

    • Identify and support vulnerable individuals, including recognising and responding to domestic abuse within ASB cases

    • Work collaboratively with Police, internal teams, and external partners to coordinate investigations and share intelligence

    • Engage with residents, councillors, and local businesses to resolve issues and promote community safety

    • Maintain accurate records, case notes, and evidence in line with legal and organisational standards

    • Carry out site visits and inspections across the borough, including lone working where appropriate

    • Contribute to joint operations and targeted enforcement initiatives

    • Promote compliance through education, engagement, and enforcement activities

    • Ensure all work is compliant with relevant legislation, policies, and data protection requirements

    • Support continuous improvement by identifying more efficient ways of working

    About You

You are a confident investigator and communicator who thrives in a fast-paced, people-focused environment. You bring a calm, professional presence to challenging situations and are motivated by making communities safer and stronger.

    You will have:

    • Experience in enforcement, anti-social behaviour, environmental health, or a similar field

    • Strong knowledge of relevant legislation relating to ASB and environmental crime (or willingness to learn quickly)

    • Experience preparing case files and presenting evidence in legal settings (desirable)

    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage a wide range of stakeholders

    • The ability to manage a varied caseload and meet performance targets

    • Strong problem-solving skills and sound judgement in complex situations

    • Confidence working independently, including undertaking site visits and lone working

    • Good IT skills, including experience using case management systems and Microsoft Office

    • A commitment to delivering high-quality, customer-focused services

    Why Join Us?

This is more than an enforcement role, it is your chance to be a steady presence in the community, turning complaints into solutions and challenges into safer streets.

Every investigation you lead, every case you resolve, helps shape a borough where people feel heard, supported, and safe.
