  • About the role

  • Are you passionate about supporting residents and helping them navigate their housing options? We’re looking for a dedicated Housing Allocations Support Officer to join our team and play a key role in delivering high-quality housing advice and support to Hillingdon residents.

This varied and impactful role involves supporting the assessment of housing applications under the Housing Acts, managing allocations and nominations for social housing, and helping residents placed in temporary accommodation. You will also contribute to maintaining our choice-based lettings system, handle enquiries both in person and by phone, and ensure timely case management in line with housing legislation and Council policies.

You’ll work closely with internal departments (including social care), external partners, and vulnerable residents to ensure a smooth, compliant, and resident-focused housing service. While you won’t have direct line management responsibilities, you may support the induction and training of new colleagues.

    What We’re Looking For

    We’re seeking someone who is:

    • Organised & detail-oriented: Comfortable managing multiple tasks, maintaining accurate records, and working within tight timeframes.
    • Resident-focused: Able to provide clear, accurate advice and support to residents, empowering them to make informed choices about their housing options.
    • Knowledgeable or willing to learn: Ideally familiar with housing legislation and allocations policies, or willing to undergo training to get up to speed quickly.
    • Team-oriented: Works collaboratively with colleagues and partners to deliver efficient service and seamless support.
    • Strong communicator: Able to communicate effectively across different channels and with a wide range of stakeholders.
    • Problem solver: Proactive in identifying issues and contributing to continuous service improvement.

This is a great opportunity to make a real difference in people’s lives, work in a dynamic housing environment, and grow your experience in public service.
