We are looking for a Senior / Trading Standards Officer to join our Trading Standards and Proceeds of Crime Team within Public Protection and Enforcement. This is a fixed term contract opportunity until 31 March 2028.
This is an exciting opportunity to work across a varied and complex range of investigations and enforcement activities, including:

Product safety

Doorstep crime

Fraud investigations

Illicit alcohol and tobacco

Consumer protection and wider Trading Standards legislation
You will manage a complex caseload of investigations and complaints, contributing effectively to team plans, enforcement priorities and wider Council objectives.
The Trading Standards and Proceeds of Crime Team sits within the wider Public Protection and Enforcement service, alongside Environmental Health, Licensing and Street Scene Enforcement.
About You
We are looking for someone who has:

Demonstrable experience carrying out criminal investigations and enforcement actions

Experience of enforcing Trading Standards legislation or equivalent investigative experience

Strong knowledge and experience of working within PACE Codes of Practice

Experience preparing prosecution cases and presenting evidence in Court

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to deal sensitively with victims of crime

Strong organisational and investigative skills

The ability to contribute confidently to Team Plans and Council priorities while maintaining high standards of work
Applicants without a formal Trading Standards qualification will still be considered where equivalent knowledge and experience can be clearly demonstrated.
The role offers a competitive salary of £42,771 - £52,194 per year, plus a £3,000 market factor supplement.
