  • About the role

  • We’re looking for a dedicated and professional to join our Mental Health AMHP Hub.

You will be working as an Advanced Practitioner/AMHP in a friendly and supportive team, providing statutory services under the Mental Health Act 1983. The AMHP will be on a rolling 6-week rota, undertaking Mental Health Act assessments and covering a 24-hour service, 365 days per year.

Approved Mental Health Professionals have a crucial role in improving mental health outcomes for Hillingdon residents. You will work in partnership with residents, families and carers, as well as other professionals, to provide collaborative solutions. You will use your social work skills, knowledge and values to engage with people in creative ways, promote recovery and independence, and ensure practice is delivered in the least restrictive manner.

We support people to live in the community, and working with families and local communities is central to our approach. We know this achieves the best outcomes. Developing a whole-system response with key partners is critical to delivering high-quality, outcome-focused care and the right support.

We recognise the specialist skills, knowledge and experience that Mental Health Social Workers and AMHPs bring. In recognition of this, our practising AMHPs are appointed as Advanced Social Work Practitioners.

    We offer:

    • A competitive starting salary
    • 20% enhancement for out-of-hours working
    • Monthly support and supervision
    • Manageable caseloads
    • Annual AMHP-specific training
    • Access to the AMHP forum
    • A wide range of CPD opportunities across the service

    About You

    You will:

    • Be a qualified Social Worker registered with Social Work England and hold AMHP status
    • Be dedicated to making a difference in people’s lives
    • Demonstrate strong social work values and high professional standards
    • Be flexible, proactive and bring a “can do” approach
    • Be confident in advocating for people’s human rights
    • Be passionate about working with people with severe and enduring mental health needs

Please see the attached Job Profile for more information about the requirements of this role.
