About the Job
This is an exciting opportunity to work within in the Insurance Team, part of the Council’s Financial Services. As part of the Council's commitment to provide high quality and efficient services, we are looking to recruit a Senior Insurance Officer who can support the Council’s Insurance Team. As the Senior Insurance Officer you will be responsible for supporting the Insurance Manager and Insurance Team to deliver a range of varied activities within the insurance function to all departments with the aim of minimising the Council’s exposure to financial loss and liability.
The main duties of the Senior Insurance Officer will be to:
- Ensure that all claims are properly recorded and allocated;
- Utilise the Council's computerised insurance claims package; LACHS (Local Authority Claims Handling System);
- Support the Insurance Manager with the annual insurance renewals and tenders.
- Develop and manage positive working relationships;
- Respond to customer queries and escalate issues;
- Identify and suggest any improvements to current ways of working in order to deliver a more efficient and effective insurance service for customers
The Council operates a hybrid working policy with current expectations that staff work in the office between 1-3 days (depending on service needs) a week.
About you
The successful candidate will have experience of:
- Processing insurance claims within a busy Insurance Team.
- Insurance Claims management.
- Creating financial and risk analysis reports.
- Dealing with significant insurance renewals and tenders.
- Performing insurance services in accordance with the relevant professional insurance standards.
- Being highly organised with strong demonstrable time management skills.
- Gaining and applying new knowledge effectively.
