  • About the role

  • The Clerk of Works (Voids) plays a key role in ensuring the quality, safety and timely delivery of repairs across all void Council properties. Reporting to the Voids Manager, you’ll oversee contractors on site, ensuring works meet specifications, legislation and Council standards. You’ll carry out regular inspections, identify defects, and advise contractors to maintain high-quality workmanship.

A central part of the role is safeguarding the resident experience: you’ll uphold the Council’s customer care standards, report any issues affecting neighbouring residents, and ensure void homes are brought up to the required lettable standards.

You will also support the wider repairs service through accurate record-keeping, progress reporting, contributing to technical specifications, assisting with cost estimates, and helping manage budgets and procurement processes. The role involves close collaboration with tenants, contractors, suppliers and Council teams, and contributes to continuous improvement across the service.

Overall, this is a hands-on, site-focused role ensuring safe, compliant and high-quality repairs that support the Council’s commitment to putting residents first.
