  • About the role

  • At Hillingdon Council, we aren’t just changing titles; we are fundamentally changing our service. We are looking for Neighbourhood Officers who understand that "business as usual" isn't enough when it comes to people’s homes.
We have worked incredibly hard to secure our C2 grading. It is a testament to our team's effort and progress, but we know it isn't the finish line. C1 is the standard our residents have a right to expect, and we are determined to get there.
We won't achieve that standard by doing what we’ve always done. We will get there by moving from 'process-driven' to 'people-driven.' We will get there by working with our residents, not just for them.
you dont necessarily need housing experience, we don't need you to recite the Housing Act. We need you to have the drive to advocate for our tenants. We need the ambition to improve our service every single day, and the passion to listen—really listen—and make a difference.
We’ve built the foundation. Now, help us deliver the future our residents deserve.
In return, we invest in you. Housing is a career with diverse paths. We will support your personal development with options like Multiverse courses and CIH qualifications to help you reach your potential.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Deliver an end-to-end tenancy management service, including property viewings, tenancy checks, and statutory compliance.

    • Act as a first point of contact for residents, fostering engagement and participation in local activities.

    • Support vulnerable tenants through early intervention and collaborative working with internal teams and partners.

    • Manage risks effectively, including fire safety, safeguarding, and tenancy failure prevention.

    • Respond to emergencies such as fires or floods and coordinate decants where necessary.

    • Contribute to service improvement initiatives and help shape policies that enhance neighbourhood services.

    About You

You are passionate about making a difference in your community and committed to putting residents first. You thrive in a role where every day brings new challenges and opportunities to help people. You are:

    • Resident-focused – You genuinely care about improving lives and delivering excellent service.

    • Proactive and adaptable – You take initiative, think creatively, and respond effectively to changing circumstances.

    • Collaborative – You work well with colleagues, partners, and residents to achieve positive outcomes.

    • Resilient and persistent – You stay calm under pressure and keep going when things get tough.

    • Open and honest – You communicate clearly, listen actively, and build trust through transparency.

    • Committed to continuous improvement – You embrace learning and seek ways to improve services and yourself.

  • About us

  • We value our employees and are committed to ensuring that they enjoy a fulfilling and rewarding career with us. We understand that a happy and motivated workforce is essential for the success of our organisation. That is why we offer a wide range of employee benefits to enhance your work-life balance, financial wellbeing, health, and professional development.

Here’s a comprehensive overview of the fantastic benefits we provide:

    • 36 Hour Week – Enjoy a standard 36-hour workweek for all full time staff.
    • Generous Holiday Entitlement – increasing with length of service (for non-casual roles).
    • Hillingdon Sports & Leisure – Stay active and healthy with discounts at council owned leisure centres and swimming pools across the borough.
    • Salary Sacrifice Schemes – option to join schemes for cycle purchase, electric vehicle leasing and additional voluntary pension contributions (subject to scheme rules).
    • Cycle to Work – Eco-friendly commuting with our cycle purchase scheme. We also provide bicycle parking, lockers, and showers at the Civic Centre.
    • Local Government Pension Scheme – access to Local Government Pension Scheme and membership to the Credit Union.
    • Vivup Benefits – Access a variety of offers and discounts through our Vivup Benefits.
