  • About the role

  • An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and motivated Advanced Social Work Practitioner to join our dynamic Preparation and Autism Team.
     
    To provide advanced-level social work expertise in adult social care, supporting complex casework, safeguarding, and service development. The postholder will offer professional leadership, supervision, and mentoring to colleagues, ensuring high standards of practice and contributing to strategic improvements across the service.     Key Responsibilities

    • Complex Case Management

      • Lead on high-risk and complex adult social care cases, including safeguarding, mental capacity, and Court of Protection work.
      • Undertake strengths-based assessments and develop outcome-focused support plans.
      • Provide expert input into multi-agency planning and decision-making.
    • Practice Leadership

      • Support and supervise less experienced social workers and apprentices.
      • Facilitate reflective supervision and promote evidence-informed practice.
      • Model best practice and provide constructive challenge to improve service delivery.
    • Service Development

      • Contribute to quality assurance, audits, and continuous improvement initiatives.
      • Lead or support strategic projects and policy development.
      • Identify gaps in service provision and propose innovative solutions.
    • Mentoring and Education

      • Act as a practice educator or mentor for students and newly qualified social workers.
      • Promote professional development and learning across the team.
      • Share specialist knowledge and facilitate knowledge transfer.
    • Safeguarding and Legal Duties

      • Act as Safeguarding Manager (SAM) where required.
      • Ensure compliance with statutory duties under the Care Act, Mental Capacity Act, and other relevant legislation.
      • Provide expert advice on legal and ethical dilemmas in practice.

    Essential Requirements

    • Degree in Social Work and registration with Social Work England.
    • Minimum of 3 years post-qualifying experience in adult social care.
    • Proven ability to manage complex cases and lead practice improvement.
    • Strong understanding of relevant legislation, policy, and frameworks.
    • Experience in supervision, mentoring, and reflective practice.
    • Excellent communication, analytical, and decision-making skills.
