  • About the role

  • We are seeking an experienced and proactive Senior Software Engineer to join our Solution Development Team, supporting the ongoing implementation and embedding of the EYES (Education & Youth Engagement System) and EHM (Early Help Module) platforms. This is a critical post, directly contributing to the success of a major digital transformation programme across Education and Social Care.

You will play a key role in the design, configuration, integration, testing, and support of new and existing software systems, ensuring they meet business requirements and statutory obligations. The role will also involve developing and maintaining portals, supporting data migration, and providing second-line support for COTS applications as required.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Lead the development, configuration, and maintenance of EYES and EHM modules, including forms, portals, and integrations.
    • Work closely with the EYES Project team and business service leads to translate requirements into robust technical solutions.
    • Support data migration, testing, and go-live activities, including troubleshooting and resolving complex issues.
    • Provide technical expertise for upgrades, hotfixes, and ongoing system enhancements.
    • Deliver training and knowledge transfer to colleagues and end users.
    • Maintain high standards of documentation and ensure compliance with security and data protection policies.
    • Participate in regular stand-ups, board meetings, and cross-team working groups.

    Essential Skills & Experience

    • Proven experience as a Senior Software Engineer or Developer, ideally within local government, education, or social care settings.
    • Strong technical skills in system configuration, integration, and support (experience with System C, EYES, EHM, or similar platforms highly desirable).
    • Experience with SQL, data migration, and troubleshooting complex data issues.
    • Ability to work autonomously, manage competing priorities, and deliver to tight deadlines.
    • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
    • Experience supporting business-critical applications and providing second-line support.

    Desirable

    • Experience with portal development and reporting tools (e.g., Power BI, Report Builder).
    • Knowledge of statutory reporting requirements in education and social care.
    • Familiarity with Agile project delivery and change management.

    Why Join Us?

    • Be part of a high-impact transformation programme improving outcomes for children, families, and vulnerable adults.
    • Work in a collaborative, supportive team with opportunities for professional development.
    • Flexible working arrangements and a commitment to work-life balance.
