  • About the role

  • We are looking for a compassionate and dedicated Residential Care Worker to join our team supporting adults with learning disabilities in a residential home setting.

You will play a vital role in providing high-quality, person-centred care and support that promotes independence, dignity, and inclusion. Working as part of a supportive team, you’ll help residents live fulfilling and active lives, both within the home and in the local community.

You will be responsible to the Registered Manager and Team Leader, ensuring that all care and support provided aligns with departmental policies, care standards, and the Council’s vision of “putting our residents first.”

    Key responsibilities

    • Deliver high-quality residential care and support that promotes choice, dignity, and independence for each service user.

    • Support service users to engage in social and recreational activities within the home and community, helping them to live full and active lives.

    • Implement individual care and support plans to meet each person’s needs, preferences, and goals.

    • Attend to the personal care and safety of service users according to their level of dependency, always maintaining dignity and respect.

    • Liaise with families, advocates, health professionals, and external agencies to ensure coordinated support.

    • Act as a link worker for designated residents, maintaining relationships with their families, friends, and advocates.

    • Administer medication in line with departmental policies and record keeping requirements.

    • Maintain accurate records and ensure confidentiality in line with GDPR and data protection policies.

    • Report and record all relevant information relating to residents’ safety, wellbeing, progress, and activities.

    • Participate in staff handovers, meetings, reviews, training, and supervision sessions.

    • Follow all Council and departmental Health & Safety procedures, including moving and handling, risk assessments, and safe working practices.

    • Promote a warm, caring, and inclusive environment that supports residents’ emotional and physical wellbeing.

    • Serve as a role model of good practice, offering guidance and support to colleagues, students, and volunteers.

    • Be flexible in your duties, undertaking any other reasonable tasks to ensure the smooth running of the home.

    About you

We are seeking someone who is caring, patient, and committed to supporting adults with learning disabilities to live their best lives. You will have:

    • The ability to work effectively as part of a team and communicate clearly with colleagues, residents, and families.

    • Awareness of safeguarding, equality, and person-centred care principles.

    • A commitment to continuous learning and professional development.
