  • About the role

  • We are seeking a committed and dynamic Youth Justice Service (YJS) Officer to join our high-performing team in Hillingdon. This is a rewarding opportunity to work directly with children and families, helping reduce re-offending and supporting better

    As a YJS Officer, you’ll provide a vital service to children, young people, and families, offering targeted interventions to address criminogenic needs, manage risks, and support personal development. You’ll work in close collaboration with police, courts, education providers, and health and voluntary sector partners to deliver comprehensive, child-centred plans.

    You will:

    • Deliver evidence-based interventions to reduce re-offending and manage risk.

    • Complete assessments on children’s risk of re-offending, harm to others, and their own safety and well-being.

    • Prepare reports for Referral Order Panels and Youth/Crown Courts.

    • Work with young people in custodial settings to support rehabilitation and reintegration.

    • Maintain high-quality records using the YJS case management system.

    • Support the development of service plans and contribute to continuous service improvement.

    • Act as a Youth Justice representative in Youth Court, providing professional advisory support.

    About You

    We’re looking for someone with:

    • Experience working directly with children, young people, or families in a support or statutory setting.

    • A sound understanding of safeguarding, criminal justice, and youth development.

    • The ability to develop, implement, and review multi-agency intervention plans.

    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build effective relationships.

    • A proactive approach to problem-solving and service delivery.

    • Flexibility to work in various settings, including courts, police stations, custodial institutions, and homes.

    While there is no direct line management responsibility, you may be required to support the induction of peers or new staff.
