We are currently recruiting for a dynamic and ambitious Head of Finance -Place.
Within Finance, our role is to strategically advise Service areas on all financial matters in the wider organisational context, while also supporting them to set and manage their budgets effectively, along with monitoring the delivery of cost savings and efficiencies as we deliver our programme of business change. We operate a business partnering model, ensuring that our finance team most effectively supports and facilitates a specific service area, as a core part of their leadership team.
As the Head of Finance- Place, you will be responsible for:
Leading and managing the Place Finance Teams within Financial Management, supporting, Place, advising on relevant aspects of strategic finance and business partnering, alongside comprehensive financial direction, support and guidance to a range of Council’s services and Directorates.
Supporting transformation and business led projects within Place, ensuring that timely and robust financial information is provided to support with decision making and take an active role in shaping outcomes of projects. In addition, ensuring that budgets are realigned to deliver savings targets, reporting timing differences in delivery.
Ensuring that Senior Management and their budget managers are supported to deliver their accountabilities for budget management and that directorates comply with Financial Standing Orders and all other financial policies and procedures as directed by the Director of Corporate Finance.
Providing financial leadership and strategic advice to directorates to enable them to develop robust financial plans and ensure that the future needs of the service are reflected in the Council’s medium term financial forecast (MTFF).
About You
We are looking for a financial professional who brings a proven track record in finance business partnering at a senior level in local authority, or similar environment. You will have significant experience of the finance demands on the service areas within the function. Finance business partnering will be second nature, with the ability to become deeply embedded within the leadership teams of your service areas. Individuals who relish the challenging of being part of a transformation programme will be particularly welcome, as we seek to expand upon the significant change already undertaken within the service, including projects on sufficiency and changes to service delivery models. You will be a qualified accountant and member of CCAB recognised body (essential) with 5 years post qualification experience.
