  • Help Shape Positive Outcomes for Children and Young People with SEND

Are you passionate about supporting children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)? Do you enjoy building strong relationships with families, schools and professionals to help achieve the best possible outcomes?

Hillingdon Council is looking for an EHC Co-ordinator to join our SEND Service. This is a rewarding opportunity to work directly with children, young people and their families, guiding them through the Education, Health and Care (EHC) assessment process and supporting them throughout their SEND journey.

As an EHC Co-ordinator, you will manage a caseload of children and young people aged 0 to 25 who are undergoing an Education, Health and Care needs assessment or who have an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP).

Acting as a key point of contact for families, educational settings and professionals, you will coordinate the statutory assessment process, ensure children and young people remain at the centre of decision-making, and help secure the support needed to achieve positive outcomes.

    You will:

    • Manage a caseload of children and young people with SEND.
    • Coordinate Education, Health and Care needs assessments within statutory timescales.
    • Act as the main point of contact for children, young people and their families throughout the assessment process.
    • Organise, attend and chair person-centred meetings with families and professionals.
    • Draft outcome-focused Education, Health and Care Plans.
    • Work collaboratively with education, health, social care and voluntary sector partners.
    • Attend annual reviews and support the ongoing review of EHCPs.
    • Provide advice and guidance to schools and educational settings regarding SEND pathways and support arrangements.
    • Support effective transitions between education settings and into adulthood.
    • Make recommendations to SEND Panels and contribute to statutory decision-making processes.
    • Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with SEND legislation and statutory guidance.

    About You

Hillingdon Council are working on shaping our services to implement the new in coming SEND Reforms to make some exciting changes to our SEND Services. We are committed to delivering the best service possible to children and young people with SEND and their families and want to work closely with our educational settings to ensure special educational needs and disabilities are well supported. The work of the SEND EHC Team is fast paced and busy.

We're looking for someone who is organised, compassionate and committed to improving outcomes for children and young people with SEND.

    You will have:

    • Experience working with children and young people with SEND.
    • A good understanding of the Children and Families Act 2014 and the SEND Code of Practice.
    • Experience coordinating complex cases and working with multiple stakeholders.
    • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
    • The ability to chair meetings and engage confidently with families and professionals.
    • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities.
    • Experience producing high-quality written reports, plans or assessments.
    • A commitment to person-centred practice and delivering positive outcomes for children and families.

    Why Join Hillingdon?

At Hillingdon, we're committed to ensuring children and young people with SEND receive the right support at the right time to help them achieve their full potential.

You'll join a supportive team that values collaboration, innovation and continuous improvement while making a meaningful difference to the lives of local families.

    Additional Information

This is a hybrid role, and you will be expected to attend the office approximately two days per week.

The role also involves regular visits to schools and educational settings across the borough. Therefore, access to a car or another reliable method of travel is essential.

If you're passionate about supporting children and young people with SEND and want to play a key role in helping families navigate the EHC process, we'd love to hear from you.

Join Hillingdon Council and help us continue putting children, young people and families at the heart of everything we do.
