We are looking for an experienced and passionate Domestic Abuse and/or Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG) Specialist Coordinator to support the delivery of our innovative Amplifying Survivor Voices project.
Funded through the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government’s Social Housing Innovation Fund, this pioneering project aims to transform how survivors of domestic abuse and VAWG influence housing services and neighbourhood design. The project will create safe, confidential and trauma-informed opportunities for survivors to shape service improvements, ensuring their voices are heard and acted upon.
As the specialist lead, you will play a central role in ensuring survivor engagement is safe, ethical and meaningful. You will act as the project’s expert adviser on domestic abuse, safeguarding and trauma-informed practice, supporting survivors to participate in co-design activities while helping the Council embed survivor insight into service improvement.
You will:
- Lead safe and trauma-informed engagement activities with survivors of domestic abuse and VAWG.
- Support the establishment and ongoing delivery of a confidential Survivor Advisory Panel.
- Carry out risk assessments and help ensure participation is safe and appropriate for survivors.
- Act as the safeguarding lead for survivor-facing activities.
- Design and facilitate empowerment, inclusion and confidence-building workshops.
- Work alongside housing services and partner organisations to embed survivor insight into policy and service design.
- Contribute to staff learning and development by supporting training on survivor-informed practice.
- Produce reports, insights and learning materials that help improve services for residents affected by domestic abuse and VAWG.
About you
We are looking for someone who combines specialist expertise with compassion, professionalism and a strong commitment to improving outcomes for survivors.
You will have:
- Significant experience of working directly with survivors of domestic abuse and/or VAWG.
- Excellent knowledge of trauma-informed practice, safeguarding and psychological safety.
- Experience of delivering engagement, co-production or participation projects involving vulnerable groups.
- Strong facilitation and communication skills, with the ability to create safe and inclusive spaces.
- Experience of working collaboratively with a range of partners and stakeholders.
- A thorough understanding of confidentiality, anonymity and ethical information handling.
- The ability to analyse findings and produce clear reports, guidance or toolkits.
Experience of working with housing providers, local authorities or community safety services would be advantageous, together with an understanding of the challenges survivors face when accessing housing and support services.
